The Passing Matters Project will make a big difference to how people experience their own end of life and how people close to them will view their own deaths.
Volunteers are needed to help run information sessions and/or to offer companionship to people in the end stages of life.
Putting Affairs in Order Information Sessions
Working with our partners, Citizens Advice East Devon, Passing Matters is running ‘Putting Your Affairs in Order’ information sessions, helping people to plan ahead. Sessions last about an hour and explain terms such as Mental Capacity, Lasting Power of Attorney and Advance Directives, with the option follow up 1:1 support to take practical steps. Volunteers will receive training, expenses and full support with the option of more in-depth training in advice work.
Specialist Visiting Service
Passing Matters also offers a specialist visiting service for people in the very end stages of life, in their own or residential care home. Volunteers spend 1-2 hours a week over several months, providing social and emotional support to individuals and their families who lack social contact at this challenging time. This will include weekly visits over a period of several months. Volunteers will receive training, DBS check, expenses and full support, including specialist monthly group supervision from a dedicated professional.
